Arifin, who is also responsible for Islamic affairs in Sabah, described the act as rude and extreme, saying it appeared intended to insult Islam and hurt the feelings of Muslims.

He urged the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS), the Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS), police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to conduct a thorough investigation and take firm action under existing laws.

A Facebook user has also claimed to have identified the man and shared a profile believed to belong to him, calling on people in Lahad Datu to help locate him.

Arifin stressed that such acts cannot be tolerated, especially during Ramadan, and warned they could cause anger among Muslims and threaten social harmony. He urged the public to remain calm and allow authorities to handle the matter.

Lahad Datu police chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail meanwhile confirmed no reports have been lodged so far.
