THE State Government will provide RM10,000 in cash assistance to the family of the elderly man who was killed in a landslide in Sandakan early Wednesday.
State Home Affairs and Research Secretary Datuk Awang Shahminan Sahari said Sandakan Municipal Council President Walter Kenson has been instructed to locate the victim's next of kin to hand over the assistance as soon as possible.

The victim, identified as Agustine J Lingam, 76, was reportedly trying to start the generator of a hotel when earth from the surrounding area collapsed and buried him.
The incident was confirmed by Sandakan Fire and Rescue Chief Jimmy Lagung.
Meanwhile, the Sabah State Disaster Command Centre, as of noon Wednesday, recorded 1,306 people affected by flooding in Kota Marudu, Paitan and Pitas, involving 40 villages.
