Kota Kinabalu: The proposed Borneo Bloc should be viewed as a platform for dialogue rather than a political alignment, said Sabah Barisan Nasional secretary Datuk Hasnol Ayub.
He said the growing discussion on the idea offers an opportunity for more mature and constructive conversations on the position of Sabah and Sarawak within the Malaysian Federation.

“The Borneo Bloc should primarily serve as a platform for dialogue, enabling Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Government to engage in meaningful discussions on matters of shared interest,” he said in a statement Thursday.
Hasnol stressed that the concept should not be interpreted as an attempt to create an exclusive political alignment but rather an initiative to strengthen reasonable autonomy for Sabah and Sarawak within the framework of the Federal Constitution.
He added that discussions should focus on economic growth, regional competitiveness and bread-and-butter issues affecting the people, including creating opportunities, empowering rural communities and ensuring development brings tangible benefits.
