PENAMPANG: Police arrested a local man suspected of involvement in an armed robbery at a 24-hour premises in the district on Wednesday.
Penampang District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said the robbery occurred at about 3.57am when the suspect, believed to be armed with a sharp weapon, fled after taking cash estimated at RM300.

He said a team from the Penampang District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department arrested the 33-year-old suspect at a hotel in Putatan on Thursday, less than 48 hours after the incident was reported.
Police also seized several items believed to have been used during the incident including a helmet, clothing, a knife and a motorcycle.
Preliminary checks found the suspect has six previous criminal records related to crime and drug abuse, and the case is being investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
