SANDAKAN: A Magistrate’s Court here acquitted and discharged a local man, who was a supervisor at a licensed money lending company, of four cheating charges involving the alleged approval of financial loans to four borrowers in 2022 and 2023.
Magistrate Nur Faezah Jafry delivered the decision after finding that the prosecution had failed to establish a

The court held that there were doubts in the prosecution’s evidence and ordered Gui to be acquitted and discharged at the close of the prosecution’s case on Wednesday.
Gui was alleged to have committed the offences on July 27, Aug 9 and Dec 21, 2022, and Jan 19, 2023, at the licensed financial lending company where he worked here, by approving loans under the names of four different individuals, amounting to RM39,000, RM12,500, RM7,500 and RM17,740.
He was charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code, with Deputy Public Prosecutor Jasmine Walker conducting the prosecution and counsel Dominic Chew Ban Huat representing him.
