BINGKOR: Residents have once again raised serious concerns over the condition of Jalan Tuntumulud–Bingkor, which frequently collapses during heavy rain despite multiple repair efforts.

Community observations indicate that the road structure deteriorates each time there is prolonged rainfall. Although repairs have been made, the problem reportedly recurs with subsequent heavy rains.

Community spokesperson and Chairman of the Persatuan Kebajikan Masyarakat Bingkor, Yazid Hasnan Tawik @ Charles, said the situation is alarming as the road serves as a main route for residents at all hours.

“Each time it rains, the road collapses. After repairs, it gets damaged again when the next heavy rain occurs. This shows that the root cause has yet to be fully addressed and requires serious attention from the authorities,” he said.

He added that the recurring damage disrupts traffic flow and poses safety risks to road users, including students, workers and emergency vehicles.

The community is urging the Public Works Department (JKR) to conduct a thorough technical assessment, implement slope stabilisation, improve drainage, and carry out regular maintenance to ensure long-term durability.

“Residents of Bingkor hope swift and comprehensive solutions will be implemented, as the latest collapse shows a recurring issue that demands decisive intervention for the safety and wellbeing of road users,” he said.
