TAWAU: Parti KeAdilan Rakyat (PKR) branch leader, Fung Thin Yein said they received another report by an individual who fell for a scam on social media to provide loan with low interest.
Fung warned the public to be aware of the tactic used by scammers which uses the vulnerability of those who are cash strapped by offering easy loan and low interest.

In the latest report, a victim saw a loan with low interest on Facebook and chatted with the promoter where he was asked to pay a certain amount to begin the proses.
“Due to the low interest rate, the victim fell for it and the he deposited a sum to qualify for the loan”, he said.
Fung explained the scammer would provide “proof” of local bank account for the deposit to be deposited through verbal conversation to convince the victim.
He urged public to go straight to the bank concerned and refrain from agreeing to anything online.
“We will continue to assist authorities in combating such menace because we believe many had fallen and some of the cases involved desperate members of the public seeking cash for medical,” he said.
