LABUAN: The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Labuan reinforced its commitment to taking action against undocumented immigrants (PATI) on the island.
JIM Labuan Director, Raymond Entalai, said the operation was conducted at four locations with 22 officers.
During the enforcement between 12.30am and 2.30am on Thursday, 20 undocumented Filipino immigrants were detained for suspected offences under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act.
Those detained, aged between four months and 59 years, included six women, three adult men, seven girls and four boys.
Raymond said 46 individuals were inspected during the operation, and two witness summons notices were issued.
All detainees were taken to JIM Labuan for further investigation. The department stressed that firm action would be taken against anyone committing offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63, the Passport Act 1966, the Immigration Regulations 1963, and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, including those who employ or harbour immigrants without documents.
