Jasmin said a report was lodged because similar incidents were said to have occurred frequently at the complainant’s home, causing the suspect’s father and other family members to fear for their safety.
TAWAU: Police arrested an unemployed who is suspected of assaulting his younger brother and threatening to burn down their house as well as kill his biological father at Kg Langsat, Merotai Besar, last Saturday.

“The suspect was detained at an unnumbered house by a team from the District Criminal Investigation Division following a report lodged by the victims,” he said, Tuesday.

Jasmin said the suspect’s own father, aged 47, and his 14-year-old younger brother had come forward to lodge a police report over the incident, which occurred at about 12.46am on Sunday.

According to the report, the incident began at about 10pm at their home when the suspect went on a rampage, acting aggressively while holding a knife.

He threatened to burn down the house and, if arrested by police, to kill his family members after being released from custody.

Jasmin said a report was lodged because similar incidents were said to have occurred frequently at the complainant’s home, causing the suspect’s father and other family members to fear for their safety.

“The suspect has a previous criminal record related to drug abuse and had served a sentence in 2024,” he said.

Investigations are being carried out under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation involving threats of death or injury, and Section 323 of the same Code for causing hurt.
