TAMPARULI: Ten people, including nine China tourists, sustained minor injuries after the tourist van they were travelling in skidded into a drain along Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau near Kampung Minangkob on Sunday.
The van, carrying 10 people including the 24-year-old local driver, is believed to have lost control before veering off the road.
The passengers comprised five men, three women and a young boy.
All the victims managed to exit the vehicle on their own with assistance from members of the public.
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Kurong Beki, said they received an emergency call at 8.36am.
He said 12 personnel, including an officer, rushed to the scene with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services utility vehicle.
“Upon arrival at the location, the fire team found the van that had skidded off the road shoulder into a drain,” he said when contacted.
All victims were taken to Tuaran Hospital for further examination and treatment.
“Investigation of the case has been handed over to the police for further action while the operation ended at 9.20am,” he added.
