PENAMPANG: Police crippled a drug distribution activity with the arrest of a 37-year-old man and the seizure of nearly half a kilogramme of suspected ecstasy and ketamine during an operation on Wednesday.
According to Info X, the suspect was detained at about 11pm after Sabah Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department officers conducted surveillance outside a condominium and stopped his Toyota Altis.
Sabah Narcotics CID chief Assistant Commissioner Alhusin Halil said police found 15 packets of suspected ecstasy powder weighing 498.01 grammes, six packets of suspected ketamine weighing 15.10 grammes, and 65 drug-laced cigarettes, with an estimated street value of RM14,450.
Initial investigations found the suspect admitted ownership of the drugs, believed to be meant for supply to an entertainment outlet.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction.
