Kota Kinabalu: Kepayan Assemblyman Chin Tek Ming questioned the silence by the State Ministry of Local Government and Housing on licensing fee hikes for small readers in Penampang.
He said enforcement of the Uniform (Licensing of Premises) By-Laws 2022 ignored massive cost increases during a period of global economic instability and e-invoicing compliance.

He said his office has begun a signature campaign to protest the move.
Chin said would raise the issue at the State Legislative Assembly (April 27-30), where he intends to table a formal petition from affected traders.
“The Government must respond whether it is ready or not,” he said.
The Assemblyman is demanding an immediate moratorium on the by-laws, a reinstatement of old rates and full refunds for traders who have already overpaid.
