Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s tenpin bowlers are hoping for a podium finish in the Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup 2026 starting tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Sarawak Megalanes in Batu Kawa, Kuching.
Sabah Tenpin Bowling Association president Rozzainny Sham Talip said they will be represented by 36 athletes to be divided into nine teams to compete in the doubles, trios, teams and bakers categories.

“We are hoping for a surprise podium finish since the bowling alley at Sarawak Megalanes has been a good hunting ground in the past for our athletes under the talent and back-up programme,” he said.
He also revealed that another team of 35 bowlers are currently taking part in the U-22 Storm Championship Sabah-Sarawak Round started on Sunday at the same venue.
“This tournament is open to all athletes aged 22 and under where all participants are required to use Storm Bowling balls throughout the competition.
“Those who do well in the competition with high scores will be selected to represent the zone at the Storm U-22 Cup 2026 Championship to be held at the Sunway Megalanes later this year.”
Meanwhile, the state contingents for the two competitions are led by deputy president Aisyah Abdullah with Mohd Kamsul Shah as team manager and the coaches are Steven Lok, Nurul Amirah Amirul and Merieza Mansur.
