KOTA KINABALU: Shitoryu Sabah contingent finished fourth overall after collecting 23 medals at the Ajung KB Sentral Karate Championship, which concluded on Sunday in Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam.
Its president, Gesiri Gambung, said the inaugural championship was held over three days.

He said the 20-member team secured eight gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals throughout the competition.
Gold medals were won by Christal Bethanny Gesiri Gambung (Category A Individual Women’s Kumite -20kg), Arisha Nur Natisya binti Mohd Norman (Category B Individual Women’s Kumite +25kg), Axel Aiden Alexander (Category B Individual Men’s Kumite -30kg), Sylisaac Immanuel Sylvalerian (Category C Individual Men’s Kumite +45kg), Elzy Elezendro Primus (Category F Individual Men’s Kumite -55kg), Marilyn John (Category J Individual Women’s Kata), McRoyce Donovan Dagul (Category H Individual Men’s Kumite -75kg) and Liam Isaiah Raja (Category D Individual Men’s Kumite -50kg).
Silver medals were claimed by Sylisaac Immanuel Sylvalerian (Category C Individual Men’s Kata), Charity Bea Gesiri Gambung (Category C Individual Women’s Kumite -30kg), Lara Isidora Raja (Category C Individual Women’s Kumite -35kg), Joanne Alyssa Norris (Category C Individual Women’s Kumite +40kg), Rayyan Iskandar Shah bin Mohd Norman (Category C Individual Men’s Kumite -35kg), Clovie Beverly Gesiri Gambung (Category D Individual Women’s Kumite -45kg), Sylvalerian Joannes Mickey (Category I and J Individual Men’s Kumite) and Ansley Aven Alexander (Category D Individual Men’s Kumite -50kg).
Bronze medals were won by Emily Myra Fong (Category B Individual Women’s Kata), Gregory Benn Gesiri Gambung (Category F Individual Men’s Kumite -55kg), Thiery Christian Thomas (Category G Individual Men’s Kumite +75kg), Grebradley Bryan Gesiri Gambung (Category E Individual Men’s Kata), Theo Noah Thomas (Category E Individual Men’s Kumite +63kg), Grebradley Bryan Gesiri Gambung (Category E Individual Men’s Kumite -52kg) and Joanne Alyssa Norris (Category C Women’s Green Belt).
Gesiri said 278 athletes from Brunei Darussalam, Sarawak and Sabah took part in the championship.
He said the competition provided an opportunity for participants, from as young as six to veterans aged 40 and above, to showcase their abilities, and congratulated all Shitoryu Sabah athletes, team manager Marilyn John, coach McRoyce Donovan Dagul, as well as parents and coaches for their continued commitment and support.
