PENAMPANG: Nearly 2,200 schoolboys and schoolgirls here benefited from the Ceasar’s Cut & Go Free Haircut Programme held over the weekend.
The programme covered 19 selected locations from Kepayan to Nambazan, making it one of the largest community-based back-to-school initiatives ever organised in the area. Previously, it was operated on a smaller scale and limited to a single outlet.
The initiative was organised by Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Moyog Division Chief Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun, who is also Assistant Minister to the Sabah Chief Minister.
He said it is part of his ongoing community welfare and social responsibility efforts, particularly to support students preparing for the new school term.
The programme focused on densely populated areas, villages and selected barbershops throughout Penampang.
“Locations were strategically chosen to ensure assistance was delivered directly, efficiently and with maximum impact for the local community.
“The main objective was to ease the financial burden on families while helping students build confidence through a neat appearance and better readiness for school,” he said.
Throughout the programme, parents and guardians expressed their appreciation, describing the initiative as timely and helpful in reducing household expenses, especially for middle- and lower-income families.
A strong turnout was recorded at all locations, reflecting the high demand and continued need for community-based welfare programmes in Penampang.
Organisers also extended their appreciation to all parties involved, including barbershop owners and volunteers, and expressed hope that similar initiatives will continue in the future for the benefit of students and the wider community.
