KENINGAU: Henry Gurney School (SHG) Keningau recorded an improvement in its 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination results, achieving a 100 per cent pass rate in all subjects.
One student obtained straight As (6A) in the six compulsory subjects taken by SHG juvenile students, while two others secured 3A and 2A respectively, with all remaining candidates passing.
The school’s Grade Point Average (GPS) improved from 4.76 to 3.76, underscoring that being a juvenile student does not mark the end of an individual’s opportunities.
The achievements of the seven SPM candidates were celebrated during the 2025 SPM Results Slip Presentation Ceremony, held in an atmosphere filled with motivation, joy and inspiration.
Earlier, the presentation of the 2025 SPM Performance Analysis was delivered by Education Unit Head Bungkias Angkapok, who offered encouragement and academic advice to the candidates to continue striving in both education and life.
The ceremony concluded with an address by SHG Director YDH PKP Sirajuddin Abdul Majid, who emphasised the importance of academic excellence as a foundation for personal development and future aspirations.
This aligns with the department’s slogan: “Safe, Livable Prisons That Inspire Hope.”
Also present were officers from the Keningau District Education Office, including Acting District Education Officer (Learning Sector) Mahiri Ruslin, Assistant District Education Officer (Learning Sector) Dr Osman Said, as well as IPG Keningau Student Affairs Deputy Director and Prison Fellowship Malaysia Keningau branch Chairman Dr Jerome Dolly, who shared words of encouragement and motivation with the students.
Their presence reflected strong collaboration between educational agencies, the community and institutional stakeholders.
The event not only celebrated academic success but also served as a platform to foster high aspirations, motivation and self-confidence among the students.
SHG expressed its appreciation to all parties who attended and supported the smooth running of the ceremony, including SHG staff, representatives from the District Education Office and Prison Fellowship Malaysia.
Despite operating under various limitations, the achievement demonstrates that SHG Keningau continues to fulfil its role as both an educational and rehabilitation institution, even in the face of numerous challenges.
