LAHAD DATU: A semi-permanent house in Kampung Cina along Jalan Bakawali was almost completely destroyed in a fire on Thursday afternoon, though no injuries were reported.

Firefighters from the Lahad Datu station arrived within minutes of the 4.35pm distress call and brought the blaze under control by 4.52pm, using two hose lines drawing water from the fire engine, open sources and a nearby hydrant.

The operation, which involved seven fire personnel with assistance from police and Sabah Electricity, concluded at 6.54pm after crews confirmed the site was safe and posed no further danger.
