Kota Kinabalu: Three individuals were penalised by the Magistrate’s Court here, Friday, for failing to explain cash deposits totalling RM7,380 into their bank accounts.
Abdul Razak Mirudin, 35, and Noor Azlin Jamil, 32, who appeared before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus; and Md Adzlan Masbek before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin, pleaded guilty to the charge against them, respectively.
Razak and Noor were each fined RM100 or four weeks’ jail, while Adzlan was ordered to pay a fine of RM100 or four days’ jail.
Razak admitted to failing to provide a reasonable explanation as to how he obtained RM5,000 belonging to one Marcia Marcus in his bank account on Feb 6, 2023, at 4.29pm.
Noor pleaded guilty to failing to explain the source of RM2,000 belonging to one Baisul Khan in her bank account on Aug 12, 2024, at 7.45pm.
Adzlan was found to have RM380 in his bank account belonging to one Florensius Basol in which he failed to explain how he obtained it on July 10, 2023, at 9.58pm.
They were each charged under Section 22A(1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance, which provides for a fine of up to RM100 or a jail term of up to three months or both on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutors (DPP) Kareena Kaur Gill Karamjit Singh and Muhammad Yousof Tahir Mahmood prosecuted.
