Sindumin: Three major issues continue to dominate public complaints in Sindumin — road infrastructure, electricity supply and access to clean water.
Star Sabah candidate Moktar Matusin said while electricity supply has improved, especially in town areas, clean water disruptions remain frequent and deeply frustrating for residents.
“Imagine, after 60 years of independence, people here are still voicing dissatisfaction over problems that remain unresolved,” he said.
He stressed that these issues cannot be solved overnight but require proper planning and long-term commitment.
“What we can do is plan for the district’s development. I understand it will be costly, but there are ways for the incoming government to uplift this area.
“I’m not making empty promises, but we will work closely with the relevant agencies and parties to prioritise these issues,” he said.
Moktar pointed to ongoing road problems, saying construction remains disorganised and incomplete.
“For example, the Sindumin–Kota Kinabalu route at night has no signboards, the roads are full of potholes and the conditions pose real risks of accidents,” he said.
He said safety considerations must guide future development, with structured planning involving the appropriate authorities.
“If elected as assemblyman, we will plan more systematically and implement development in an organised manner according to the proper SOPs,” he said.
Moktar is Star Sabah’s candidate in a 10-cornered contest for the Sri Tanjung seat in the 17th Sabah state election.
He holds a Diploma in Agriculture from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (1982) and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Nebraska (1989).
He served over 36 years in the Sabah Agriculture Department, last as Principal Assistant Director of the Planning Division, and is currently an adviser to the Shape Iburu Project.
