TAWAU: A large decomposed carcass, believed to be an elephant based on its physical shape, was spotted floating in Tawau waters in a viral video on Thursday.
The carcass, seen drifting near Tanjung Batu Logpond amid piles of rubbish, appeared severely deteriorated and partially disfigured.
A 30-second video circulating online showed the swollen remains, with viewers noting its resemblance to an elephant despite the advanced state of decay.
Social media users questioned whether the carcass was indeed that of an elephant, prompting concern and speculation.
Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD) confirmed it had been alerted to the incident but said a full report has yet to be received.
