RANAU: Two local men were remanded four days after being arrested by police on suspicion of being involved in TM cable theft in the district.
The suspects from Keningau, aged 44 and 39, were also found positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine
The arrests were made at 11am on Tuesday when a team from the Ranau IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division was carrying out an enforcement operation in Kundasang town.
During the operation, a silver Proton Gen2 vehicle was stopped near a Fresh Mart shop in Kundasang town.
However, the vehicle sped away and the police chased it using an Outlander team vehicle and managed to stop it at the intersection near the Picai Roundabout near the entrance to Hotel Perkasa.
Two men in the vehicle were arrested and taken to the Kundasang Police Station for further examination.

An inspection of the rear bonnet of the car found cable cutters as well as several rolls of red TM cable and a white sack containing rolled copper wire.
Upon inspection of a backpack carried by one of the suspects, the police found drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, Unifi and fibre internet lines throughout the district were found cut off the past few days, causing communication disruptions among thousands of users.
