Kota Kinabalu: A low-flying aircraft over Ranau was recently captured on video and circulated on social, but aviation authorities are not saying anything.
The 36-second footage, uploaded on the SabahNews 2.0 social media platform on Tuesday, was shared by users across various platforms. It shows the aircraft flying at an unusually low altitude.
Kampung Kibarambang resident Ijamxx, who lives in the Pekan Ranau area, said the incident happened two days ago between 10am and 11am.
“I was having a meal when there was a rumbling so loud that the roof of my house started to rattle,” he said, Thursday.
Attempts by Daily Express to obtain an official explanation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) were unsuccessful as at press time.
CAAM Sabah Acting Regional Director Herman Malanjun, when contacted, said his office was unable to provide flight information without a formal request.
“An official request shall be made to the office of the Chief Executive Officer, CAAM Putrajaya,” he said. Daily Express contacted the number in Putrajaya but to no avail.
