Kota Kinabalu: The Tawau Kelab Rakan Muda (KRM) has been recognised as the Best Operating Body at the National Youth Award for Outstanding Young People (APRM) 2025 Gold Level ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.
ARPRM mentor and adviser to Tawau KRM Alex Dennis said the award reflects the club’s success in coordinating programmes and activities for participants, as well as producing the highest number of Gold Level awardees this year.
At the ceremony, 20 youths from Tawau were officially conferred the ARPRM Gold Level award, part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
Recipients included KRM committee members, students from SMK Tawau and SMK Jalan Apas, and trainees from Tawau Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM) and Gaya IPGM.
The event was officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, at the National Sports Council on Saturday evening.
ARPRM, adapted from The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in London, recognises youths for active participation in activities that foster personal growth.
The programme focuses on individual achievement rather than competition and is open to youths aged 14 to 24, regardless of gender, religion, culture, or physical and mental abilities.
Participants can progress through three levels, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The international award is recognised in 144 countries worldwide.
The Tawau delegation was accompanied by Noorman Ramlan, Deputy State Youth and Sports (Policy) Director, Alex and Nursayfaesyah Foo Mohd Sayful.
