KOTA KINABALU: The struggle for Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement and fair socio-economic development should not be made an excuse for political division, said Sabah PKR chairperson Datuk Mustapha Sakmud on Monday.
However, he said Sabah PKR respected Upko’s decision to withdraw from Pakatan Harapan (PH), acknowledging the party’s contributions and cooperation since joining the coalition in 2019.
Mustapha said both parties had worked closely across various levels of leadership and grassroots in championing reform, good governance, and inclusive progress for Sabah.
He urged all political parties, including Upko, to continue prioritising the welfare of Sabahans and pursue common goals through unity and mutual respect under a mature federal system.
He added that PKR remained committed to advancing the shared aspiration of a progressive Sabah under the spirit of national reform and inclusivity.
