LABUAN: The suspension of the online ticketing service for the Labuan–Menumbok roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) ferry has sparked anger among commuters, who are now forced to queue for long hours at the already congested terminal.
A notice posted at the counter by the ferry operator’s ticketing agent stated that the system was being upgraded and would “return to normal soon.”
The agent represents the main operator of the Labuan–Menumbok route, which manages three vessels — Kimanis 1, Putra Jaya 1, and Goodwill Star — serving hundreds of passengers and vehicles daily.
One commuter, James Simon, expressed frustration, saying, “Always like this… have IT lah!”
Another traveller, David Lau, commented, “They should upgrade the system at night with overtime staff, instead of causing inconvenience to the public.”
A message circulating in a local chat group also claimed that “last Saturday, many were at the ticketing counter before 8am, but it was still closed even by 8.45am.”
Many passengers have questioned how long the online booking service will remain offline. The notice said it would resume “soon,” but as one frustrated commuter remarked — “How soon? Next year (2026)?”
