SANDAKAN: A handover ceremony for the Commander of Naval Region 2 (Mawilla 2) between Rear Admiral Datuk Yusne Mokhtar and Rear Admiral Ivan Mario Andrew was held at Dewan Azim, TLDM Housing Complex, Taman Samudera, here on Friday.

Eastern Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Datuk Khir Junaidi Idris witnessed the ceremony.

Yusne, who has served as Mawilla 2 Commander since November 20, 2024, will assume a new role as Chief Executive of the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (Midas) under the Defence Ministry.

In his speech, Khir expressed appreciation for Mawilla 2’s achievements under Yusne’s leadership during his tenure as commander.

He said the excellence should continue to drive Mawilla 2 personnel in carrying out their duties under Ivan’s leadership as the new commander.
