LAHAD DATU: Three individuals, including a Filipino woman, were detained during “Op Tapis” by the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division on Wednesday.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the arrests led to the seizure of 59.29 grammes of syabu worth RM6,521.90.
The first suspect, a 36-year-old Indonesian, was arrested at the Reno Fajar area after police found 5.14 grammes of syabu in his possession. He tested positive for drug use and is being investigated under Sections 39A(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The second arrest involved a 36-year-old Filipino woman detained at quarters in Jalan Simpang Gogos, where police found 54.15 grammes of syabu along with tools believed used in drug trafficking.
She tested negative for drug use, and the case is being investigated under Section 39A of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The third suspect, a 42-year-old Filipino, tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
All three suspects are currently in police custody, with remand applications to be made for further investigation.
ACP Dzulbaharin added that the operation reflects Lahad Datu Police Headquarters’ commitment to combating drug-related crimes in the district.
