She also ordered that Gubit be further detained at Kota Marudu police headquarters.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old Filipino was jailed three months for illegal entry.

William Majid pleaded guilty to entering the State at 2pm on Oct 13 at the fish market in Donggongon, Penampang.

William spared from whipping due to his age.  In seeking for leniency, William told the court that prior to his arrest, he was working as an ice-cube carrier at the market for the fishmongers to support his parents and siblings. According to William, he had been in the state since he was four and had never been arrested. Prosecuting Officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng urged the court to impose an adequate punishment.

The court ordered William to serve his jail sentence from the date of arrest and referred to the Immigration Department after completing his sentence.
