UMS RM20,000 business grants

Kota Kinabalu: A total of RM20,000 in entrepreneurship grants have been allocated by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) to assist entrepreneurial activities at the faculty level.UMS Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof Dr Ismail Ali, said the grant was aimed to emphasise entrepreneurial culture based on the niche areas and expertise available in each faculty."For example, the expertise that can provide benefits in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Heritage (FKSW) is in terms of service production media such as printing, graphic design, film production, video production, photography, clothing, paintings, ceramics and sculptures," he said.

He was speaking at the launching and granting of entrepreneurship grants to 10 faculties in UMS at the Executive Board Meeting Room, Chancellery Building, here, Wednesday.According to Dr Ismail, out of the allocated amount of the grant, each faculty receives an equal share of RM2,000 each."Hence, I hope the deans will be able to monitor and take serious emphasis to ensure entrepreneurial activity at each of them goes smoothly," he stressed.Grant presentation to representatives of each faculty was completed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof Dr Rasid Mail.

For the record, the entrepreneurial grant is an initiative of the Student Affairs Department through the Division of Training and Entrepreneurial Development (BLPK).Also present at the event was the Head of BLPK, Dr Bonaventure Boniface, and Head of UMS Student Affairs Department, Ahmadi Nurdin.
