Sarawak cuts timber royalties by 50pc to ease industry pressure
KUCHING: Sarawak will implement a temporary 50 per cent reduction in royalty rates and selected statutory charges for natural forest logs to ease pressure on the timber sector.

The reduction applies to all Forest Timber Licences and Licences for Planted Forests, excluding Timber Industries Tariff H0272502.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg (pic) said the measure would take effect within two weeks and remain in force for one year, subject to review.

He said the move supports the industry amid rising fuel prices, global market volatility, supply chain disruptions and increasing operational costs.
