Kota Kinabalu: The state capital is expected to have over 1,000 more hotel rooms, mostly the four-star category, with a few hotels due for opening soon.
This, in turn, will mean hundreds of jobs for locals. The sale of the boutique Luma Hotel at Sutera Avenue here to public listed Magma Group Bhd for Rm61 million in cash & shares deal has attracted much property market attention.
About 300 metres away, the near completion of Fairfield Hotel by the Marriot Group at the end of Sutera Avenue facing KK Times Square and Imago Mall would add a few hundred rooms this year.
Also in the news is the unique “Ship Hotel” featuring 216 rooms and world-class facilities, valued at RM130 million being built along the waterfront near the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
