Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Aquatic Sports Association (Sasa) successfully organised its 8th Sasa Novice Swimming Competition at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex Aquatic Centre recently.
This event served as a platform for new and grassroots swimmers to showcase their talents and set a new record with 256 athletes participating this year.
The competition featured five age groups. The top three winners in each group were Aiyzaa Sereena Sari (BMSC), Neorah Amori Perez Molijol (BMSC), Raynaa Zoeeryna Eusuf (BMSC) - Group 6 girls (7 years and under); Adrian Lo Yan Qi (TSSC), Eshaan Therin Viknesvaran (BMSC), Ivan Smith Kenneth (SSA) - Group 6 boys; Hyvette Miracle Julas (PJMS), Tiffany Liew Pei Ying (SSA), Gloria Lee Yuan Yuan (SSA) - Group 5 girls (8-9 years); Yeong Jesse Mikhael (PPSC), Dave Denzell Isaiah (PPSC), Luc Gerard Rayner (PPSC) - Group 5 boys; Chloe Lee Xuan (SDSC), Thien Siew Yee (SSA), Thea Pang Yue (SDSC) - Group 4 girls (10-11); Edan Park (PJMS), Lee Siao Lim (TSSC), Anson Tan Yee Zhe (BMSC) - Group 4 boys; Neia Gabrielle Chin (PPSC), Averie Fung Xu Ley (PPSC), Humaira Ainsley Aiden (BMSC) - Group 3 girls (12-13); Sherwin Voon Xuan Ying (SDSC), Noah Tal Tarang Garai (PPSC), Ethan Chai Yung Jun (BMSC) - Group 3 boys; Iesha Sophie Irwan (PPSC), Shavonne Goh Ser Syuen (PJMS), Amber Lee Synn Yii (SDSC) - Group 2 (14-15); Daniel Thong Khou Khou (SSA), Tougher Tee (SSA), Keith Ng Zhen Lip (SSA) - Group 2 boys.
Sasa president Daniel Lee congratulated all the swimmers for their achievements, especially those who set personal best times and those who competed for the very first time. He expressed his gratitude to all the teams and all stakeholders for their efforts to make the competition a success.
He also announced that Sasa will be hosting the MAS/Milo All- Stars Swimming Circuit Leg 1 2026 (East Malaysia region) at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex Aquatic Centre on May 16-17.
This will serve as East Malaysia qualifier for the MAS/Milo All Stars Grand Final scheduled in September.
