KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sabah has dismantled a subsidised diesel smuggling syndicate under Ops Tiris 4.0 on Monday (April 13).
The operation, based on intelligence, led to a raid at a petrol station in the city where two vehicles were found using additional IBC tanks with an estimated 800 litres of diesel each.
The syndicate is believed to have transferred diesel from the vehicles’ original tanks into the IBC containers using modified hoses and electric pumps for illegal distribution.
Two local men in their 30s failed to produce relevant documents, and the case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961.
Authorities seized two vehicles, equipment and diesel worth a total of RM22,745.
