KUNAK: The Hari Raya Aidiladha sacrificial rite is not only a religious obligation but also a platform for nurturing the values of sacrifice, sincerity and responsibility towards those in need, said Assistant Youth Development, Sports and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Seri Anil Sandhu.
Anil, who is also Kunak Assemblyman, said the spirit of unity, togetherness and mutual cooperation fostered through the practice should continue to be preserved in society.
He said the ritual enables Muslims to demonstrate their obedience to Allah while strengthening community ties through the sharing of sustenance and collective participation.
“With this sacrificial rite, we are able to share our blessings, cultivate togetherness and strengthen unity,” he said after witnessing a korban programme at the Kunak District Police Headquarters (IPD) on Friday.
Anil said the event was not only a means of extending contributions to the community and police personnel but also reflected the strong spirit of unity and cooperation that underpins community life.
He said a total of 18 sacrificial cattle were contributed in the Kunak constituency this year, including allocations to several agencies and institutions.
These included the Kunak IPD, District Office, UPPM Unit, Public Works Department, Kunak District Council, secondary schools, mosques,
surau and villages in the district.
Anil also stressed that district development driven by cooperation between the community and government agencies was essential to ensuring development plans achieved their objectives, in line with the spirit of sacrifice that emphasises sincerity and shared responsibility.
