LAHAD DATU: Police arrested five men and seized Syabu and Ketum following separate operations carried out by the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division and General Operation Force on Tuesday.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dzulbaharin Ismail said two men were detained while 24 litres of ketum juice, 1.8kilogrammes of ketum powder and six bottles of Dynadryl cough medicine were seized during a raid in a plantation in Silabukan.
He said, three other suspects, were detained in separate operations under the Ops Tapis behind a hypermarket building in Jalan Reno Fajar.
“The result of inspection found several packets of Syabu weighing 5.59 grammes. All the suspects were also tested positive for drugs.
“One of the suspects also had previous criminal record related to drugs,” he said, adding that all the suspects were currently remanded for further investigation under the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
Dzulbaharin stressed that the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters would not compromise against any activities related to drugs.
