Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor
(pic) has welcomed the RM1.5 billion interim payment of Sabah’s special grant announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday.
Hajiji said Sabah hopes the funds will be disbursed as soon as possible for the benefit of the people of the State.
He also welcomed the Prime Minister’s assurance during the opening of the Kaamatan Festival that the Federal Government will honour the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
According to Hajiji, the commitment demonstrates that the Federal Government under Anwar is fulfilling its promises.
“It proves that the Federal Government under Anwar is a responsible government that walks the talk,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the State Government will continue to work closely with the Federal Government to ensure the provisions under MA63 are implemented.
He said this includes efforts to realise Sabah’s 40 per cent special grant entitlement.
Hajiji added that cooperation between the State and Federal governments remains important in ensuring matters related to MA63 are successfully resolved and implemented for the benefit of Sabah.
