Kota Kinabalu: A 40-year-old wireman was charged in the Magistrate’s Courts here with two counts of assaulting his wife and threatening to kill her.
Sajid Samid pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to voluntarily causing hurt to one Nurhida Dami, 26, at 10.30am on April 14 at a rented room at MS Penginapan, Sinsuran 2, here.
The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction.
The court fixed June 24 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on bail of RM1,200.
In a separate court, Sajid also pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to criminally intimidating the same victim at the same place, date and time by threatening to kill her.
The offence, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, on conviction.

The court fixed June 4 for pre-trial case management and allowed bail at RM1,500 in two sureties.
