Kota Kinabalu: Teacher placement in Sabah has reached 98.22 per cent, with 86.75 per cent of the total made up of Sabahans, ensuring smooth school operations across the state.
The figures were shared during a courtesy visit by the Education Service Commission (SPP) to State Minister for Education, Science and Innovation, Datuk James Ratib, on Friday.
Also present were KPSTI Permanent Secretary Datuk Hassan Mahali and senior ministry officials, while the SPP delegation was led by Datuk Haji Adzman Talib, accompanied by other members.
The high percentage of local teachers reflects the State Government’s commitment to empowering Sabah-born talent and strengthening the education workforce from within.
SPP said the achievement also demonstrates effective coordination between the Federal and State governments in ensuring sufficient and quality teaching personnel.
Discussions during the visit also covered teacher appointments, placements, and the need to strengthen critical areas supporting Sabah’s science, technology, and innovation agenda.
