RANAU: RS Team emerged as champions of the Unifi Cup 9-A-side Football Tournament after beating 15 other teams, taking home medals, trophies and vouchers worth RM1,000.
In the competition, Matra FC emerged as runners-up, receiving medals and RM800 vouchers, while third place was won by JAF A, who also took home medals and RM500 vouchers.
The Unifi Cup 9-A-side Football Tournament was organised in collaboration with Unifi and Clasico Ranau, and held at Padang Kampung Sinarut Baru recently, with encouragement from local teams.
A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament, reflecting the warm reception among football fans in the district.
Among the participating teams were RS Team, Matra FC, JAF B, Sinar Villa, Liwagu FC, Ranau Frenz, Bindrow, Langanan FT, Sigap FT, Tinanom F, Black Pantera, Cemilan Warisan FT, JAF A, Pia Hitam FC, R&J FT and Thunder FC.
Also enlivening the tournament was the participation of the Unifi and Parlimen teams, which further added to the spirit of competition. As early as 6am, the teams began to arrive for the registration session before a team manager briefing was held to ensure the smooth running of the competition.
Ranau Member of Parliament, Jonathan Yasin, completed the opening gimmick as well as the prize-giving ceremony later in the same day, thus closing the curtain on a tournament that ran smoothly and was full of sportsmanship.
