Kota Kinabalu: Teacher placement in Sabah has reached 98.22 per cent, with the majority comprising local recruits, following strengthened cooperation between the State and the Education Service Commission (SPP).

State Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib said this during a courtesy visit by an SPP delegation aimed at enhancing strategic collaboration in the State’s education development.
The delegation, led by Datuk Adzman Talib, informed that 86.75 per cent of teachers in Sabah are locals, supporting the State Government’s efforts to strengthen homegrown talent in the education sector.

Discussions also covered management of education services, including teacher appointments and placements, as well as the need to strengthen critical fields aligned with science, technology and innovation.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to improving coordination between Federal and State levels to ensure Sabah’s education system remains effective, inclusive and responsive to current needs.
