KOTA KINABALU: Dr Mary Gambidau from Telupid has been appointed chair of the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan State-level pageant 2026, taking on a key role in organising one of Sabah’s flagship cultural events.
Her appointment underscores efforts to strengthen the pageant as a platform for preserving heritage and empowering young women as future community leaders. Datuk Joanna Kitingan was named adviser, providing strategic guidance to the organising committee.

Dr Mary has formed a core committee comprising Mandy Nandu as deputy chair, Audrey Wilson Rantau as secretary and Maureen J. Kananong as treasurer.
Preparations began in February, including early finalist assessments in line with KDCA directives to enhance professionalism and transparency.
The event will run from May 26 to 31, featuring 52 finalists from across Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
Hilton Kota Kinabalu has been confirmed as the official hotel for the event.
