Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Engineers Association (SEA) held its 48th Annual General Meeting in here with its incumbent leadership re-elected en bloc.
The line-up includes CC Lo as president, Leslie Yew Min Yun as deputy president, Datuk Willy Chin Tet Fu as honorary secretary and Dylan Wong Yun Tzen as honorary treasurer.
At the meeting, SEA announced a proposal requiring engineers from Peninsular Malaysia to undergo a Professional Competency Assessment on Sabah’s local laws, regulations and engineering standards before practising in the State.
CC Lo said the proposal is aimed at ensuring public safety and legal compliance, noting that existing national registration pathways do not fully address Sabah’s distinct legal and geographical framework.
The proposal, which includes assessment of local laws, seismic and climate conditions as well as a state-specific endorsement system, will be submitted to the Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Ministry for further consideration.
