BEAUFORT: A five-vehicle collision occurred at the Bingkul bridge along Jalan Haji Akhbar Khan here on Friday afternoon after a lorry reportedly lost control while going down the bridge.

District Police Chief Supt Wong Leong Meng confirmed the incident, which happened at about 3pm.

He said all vehicles were travelling in the same direction, from Sipitang towards Papar, when the lorry was believed to have lost control upon reaching the location.

“The lorry first rammed into the rear of a Perodua Myvi, which then collided with a Toyota Vios, followed by a 4WD Ford Ranger, before hitting a Honda City,” he said.

The lorry driver and other drivers were not injured in the incident and the case is being investigated under the Road Transport Act.
