Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old motorcyclist died on the spot following a collision with a Toyota Vios along the stretch opposite Bataras Kolombong at 9pm on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Y Pat Neo Juneor Y Pat Jefferson. He worked at a hotel and was returning to Kionsom, Inanam. 

His mother, who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, identified him as her eldest son.

The Toyota Vios, driven by a 30-year-old woman, was believed to be coming from the Kian Yap Industrial area in Kolombong, heading in the Inanam direction, and was making a U-turn towards Manggatal. 

The motorcycle was travelling from the Likas direction towards Kionsom before crashing into the left side of the vehicle.

Inspector Puan See and SM Morni were at the scene to investigate.
