My stance on 40pc claim unchanged, says Ewon
Kota Kinabalu: Upko President Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic) said his stance on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement remains unchanged.

The Deputy Chief Minister said his resignation from the Federal Cabinet was due to disagreement with the Government’s decision to appeal against the High Court ruling in Sabah’s favour.

He said the first appeal challenged the judgment, while the second sought a stay of execution, which was later allowed by the Court of Appeal, affecting the earlier High Court decision.

He said the issue has persisted for nearly 40 years and should ultimately be assessed by the people of Sabah.

Ewon added that Upko will continue to maintain its position and pursue the State’s rights if the 40 per cent entitlement remains unresolved.
