PUTATAN: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) Putatan division will propose that it contest the Putatan parliamentary constituency in the next general election.
Its divisional head Datuk Dr Marcus M. Mojigoh
(pic) said this could be realised if Upko is able to secure cooperation and confidence from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and component parties as well as the leaders.
“If Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji feels Upko should be given the traditional seat, then thank you very much.
“Whoever standing as parliamentary candidate, we will support,” he said.
Dr Marcus, the former Putatan MP, was speaking at the Upko national-level Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at Dewan Sri Putatan on Thursday. Upko President cum Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick officiated the event attended by some 3,000 people.
Also present were Putatan MP Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, Tanjung Keramat Assemblyman Shah Alfie Yahya, co-organisers namely Rosdy Wasli, Jason Lee and Ismail bin Yusuf.
Dr Marcus was unseated by Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Awang Husaini Sahari in the 2018 general election.
Dr Marcus said he will not stand as the Upko candidate if decided.
