KINABATANGAN: The body of a man who was attacked by a crocodile in front of his father was found floating in a river at Kampung Segaliud, here, Wednesday.
The body of Mohd Rayyan Abdullah, 28, was found about 500 metres from the location following the incident which occurred at 9.55am.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Assistant Fire Supt Hairi Otuh said they received an emergency call and a team of four personnel was deployed to the scene, located about 30km from the station.
“According to the father, he saw his son disappearing after being attacked by a crocodile. The fire team conducted a search and rescue (SAR) operation within a 1km radius,” he said.
He said the first day of the SAR operation was suspended at 10.50pm.
“The victim was found on the second day of the operation, at 9.55am. The body was then retrieved and handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
The SAR operation was assisted by two police personnel and 13 villagers.
