Kota Kinabalu: The court set April 9 for further pre-trial case management in the case involving a 32-year-old chef at a school, who is charged with raping his underage girlfriend.
Zarvoel Saidi’s case was brought before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan on Wednesday, where the prosecution was directed to serve documents to him.
However, the prosecution told the court that some of the documents such as CCTV footage from a hotel and medical report of the alleged victim are still pending. The prosecution then requested for another further mention date to serve the documents.
Zarvoel is accused of raping the 14-year and 10-month-old student at 3pm on Jan 10 this year at a hotel in Tuaran.
The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.
Zarvoel who was further remanded pending the disposal of his case, told the court that he has nothing to say.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis appeared for the prosecution while Zarvoel was not represented.
During his first court appearance, Zarvoel stated that the alleged victim was a student at the school where he worked.
