SANDAKAN: Eight notices were issued by the Sandakan Area Health Office in the first week of Ops Bazar Ramadan 2026 for food safety violations.
Area Health Officer Dr Jackson Wong said offences included failure to obtain anti-typhoid vaccination, not wearing protective attire, poor personal hygiene, and improper storage of chilled meat outside the -1°C to 10°C range.

Inspections at Bazar Ramadan Bataras cover stall cleanliness, food handling, immunisation status and temperature control. Authorities warned that compounds or closure may follow for serious breaches.
The operation, involving over 30 enforcement officers, runs until the fourth week of Ramadan.
