Kota Kinabalu: The body of a man was found near Sungai Kalansanan in Inanam, here, Sunday, with police confirming no signs of criminal activity at the scene.
The deceased was identified as a 34-year-old Permanent Resident with a MyPR identification card.
“We received a call at about 10.27am from a Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) staff who made the discovery along the riverbank near the shortcut to Ujana
Kingfisher,” said Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda in a statement, here.
“Initial inspection found no signs of injury or criminal elements on the body,” he said.
A team deployed to the scene found the body some 30 metres from the main road and proceeded to conduct a thorough examination of the site.
The remains has since been sent for post mortem.
Kasim urge members of the public to refrain from making speculation that could compromise the ongoing investigation.
He also called on those with relevant information to go to the nearest police station to facilitate investigations.
